Honors Anatomy and Physiology and Dual Enrollment Anatomy and Physiology:
There is no OFFICIAL Summer work for Traditional or Honors Anatomy and Physiology OR for Dual Enrollment Anatomy and Physiology. Although, in order to be prepared for the beginning weeks of class, students may wish to review BASIC Cellular Biology and BASIC Chemistry concepts, such as:
- Atomic structure (subatomic particles, charges, locations, masses, atomic mass, atomic number, isotopes)
- The difference between molecules and compounds
- Types of bonding (Ionic, Covalent, Polar covalent, and Hydrogen)
- Patterns of chemical reactions (Synthesis, Decomposition, Exchange, and Reversible)
- Difference between inorganic and organic compounds
- The pH scale (what it measures and what each unit change means, as well as what an acid and base is)
- Organic compound structures and functions (Carbohydrates, Proteins, Nucleic acids, and Lipids)
- Cellular components (structure and function of nucleus, ribosomes, mitochondria, etc.)
- Cellular membrane components (structure and function)
- Cellular membrane transport (Diffusion, Osmosis, Facilitated Diffusion, Simple Active Transport, Endocytosis, and Exocytosis)
