FES STEM student star-bound with win in NASA contest

 

 

Though the stars are bright, it seems that the future of a certain GMSD STEM student might prove even brighter. Nipun Rajan, a Farmington fifth grader, was awarded as a semifinalist apart of the NASA and American Society of Mechanical Engineers Foundation’s Future Engineers Challenge.

April 20th, 2018—Germantown, Tennessee—Earlier this afternoon, Germantown School Board approved the bid for the new elementary school and administrative building.  Which will break ground on May 1st, 2018 at 4pm.  The public is invited to attend.

HHS Lady Mustangs Basketball Team storms the state championship after undefeated season

 

 

After an undefeated season, the Houston High School Varsity Women’s Basketball Team made it to the state championship game—the first basketball team to make back-to-back trips to the championship level in Houston history—and were named this year’s runner up.

HHS & HMS Orchestras take first place in national competition at Disney World

 

Don’t miss their upcoming concert on May 7th at GPAC.  HHS and HMS orchestra students hitched a ride with Tinkerbell and flew to Walt Disney World to compete against orchestras from across the country in the prestigious completion series known as Festival Disney. After a fun day at Universal Studios and Disney’s The Animal Kingdom, both orchestras won first place in their respective classes at the 2018 competition in Orlando this past weekend.

“Battle for Ellen” celebrates student music while fundraising for St. Jude

 

Germantown, Tennessee—March 22, 2018— Spearheaded by Houston High students Sam Haddow and Anna-Cate Kramer, the Student Government Association organized a “battle of the bands” event, where student musical groups across the district competed on the turf field for a great cause—to raise money for St. Jude in honor of fellow student, Ellen Suchomel.

Last week, therapy dogs invaded the high school during lunches in an effort (by student organizers) to take some of the stress out of testing.
