The Germantown Municipal School District’s Inclement Weather Team will be carefully monitoring weather conditions and forecasts over the next few weeks to identify safety concerns for students and staff. The team will make every effort to inform the Germantown community of school closures and early dismissals with as much advanced notice as possible. As a preventative measure, plant managers are arriving early to identify slippery areas and apply de-icer or close walkways as needed. In addition, extra maintenance crews have been brought on site to address related issues. With extremely low temperatures, we recommend parents use their best judgment when it comes to students that normally walk/bike to school.
The Germantown Municipal School District has 12.5 extra days built in the calendar, above and beyond what is required by the state. Once the inclement weather season has passed, the District will evaluate the number of instructional days missed due to weather and determine if makeup days are required and how they will be recovered. When determining if makeup days are needed, the district will be sensitive to family schedules while placing student education as a priority.
