The Office of the Superintendent includes, Superintendent Jason Manuel, Executive Secretary Vijaya Subramani, Front Desk Receptionist Maria Comas, and Assistant Superintendent Dan Haddow. 

Academic Advancement

The Academic Advancement team provides district leadership that supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of rigorous, relevant academic programs. They provide a guaranteed, viable curriculum which meets the diverse needs of all students. The department analyzes and reports the accountability results of our schools’ TNReady assessments, directs curriculum alignment and pacing, and supports schools with data interpretation. The team also provides professional development opportunities throughout the year for teachers and administrators that include examining existing curriculum, lesson design, content alignment, research-based instructional methods, and school improvement strategies.

Athletic Department

With 17 separate TSSAA sports and over 34 state championship titles, Germantown Municipal Schools has a long standing tradition in athletic excellence. Schools at all levels, however, offer athletic experiences via school coordinated health, physical education, and club sports.

Communications Department

Students work in the state-of-the-art television studio.
The Department of Communications exists to support the other departments in their missions by ensuring that the positive messages of the Germantown Municipal School District are reaching the appropriate audiences. We publish news, produce promotional film/television, handle media requests, serve as the district webmaster, and arrange committee meetings/focus groups to facilitate stakeholder participation in important decision making. The Exceptional Student Education department facilitates educational opportunities based on best practices through collaborating with all stakeholders to develop a plan, monitoring progress of the plan and celebrating the steps each student makes in reaching his/her fullest potential.

Finance Department

Finance Department
The Finance Department is responsible for: audit preparation, budget development, capital projects accounting, depositing and investing of funds, federal programs and grant accounting, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, OPEB trust administration, payroll and benefit processing, purchasing, school accounting, school nutrition administration, and vendor payments processing.

Nutrition Administration

Two high school students work in the nutrition class There's a lot to get excited about in our cafeterias this year.  New food court style kiosks at the middle and high schools along with a new interactive POS system across the district are sure to resonate with both our students and parents. On our GMSD Nutrition Administration page you can submit online payments, view school menus, or learn more about our cafeteria provider, Aramark.

Operations Department

Embedded Image for:  (2017510155313375_image.JPG) The Operations Department oversees all of our facilities and several aspects of business operations for the Germantown Municipal School District, including maintenance, custodial, capital improvement projects, energy management, land acquisition, transportation, planning, aspects of emergency preparedness, aspects of risk management, and aspects of insurance. Our department has also been involved in committee work that has lead to major decisions for the district, including the start time committee, zoning committee, site selection committee, design review committee, custodial RFP committee, and our facilities master plan committee.

Purchasing Department

Our Purchasing Department oversees the contractual relationship when any outside business delivers, provides services or goods for, or operates within the school district.  On our site, contractors can also view active bids, proposals, quotes, and archived awarded bids.  Those wishing to do business with GMSD may find the appropriate paperwork here.

Student Services Department

A student presents his teacher with a STAR award. The Germantown Municipal School District Student Services Department is responsible for the management of student affairs including, but not limited to, attendance, discipline, health-related services, counseling and social emotional needs, student enrollment, school and student safety.

We strive to support students, parents, and school administration while promoting a safe and structured environment all the while following the guidelines of district policy.

Technology Department

The technology team serves the district in a dual capacity. We have a certified instructional team that supports teachers, administrators, and students with new innovations and educational technology. Their responsibilities include teaching students and modeling the use of technology in the classroom, helping teachers with lesson planning, and supporting teachers with productivity tools like teacher websites, Microsoft Office products, the Learning Management System, etc. We have a second team that handles all device deployment, updates, repairs, etc. for over 4000 desktops, laptops, and tablets throughout the district. This team is responsible for the hardware in the district, the network infrastructure, and all internet services.
