Forest Hill Elementary presented a Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11, at 2 p.m. in the school's gymnasium. Veterans with connection to FHES students were invited and honored with a small reception in the Cafeteria. Following this was a parade through the halls of FHES with students cheering, "U-S-A," as the Veterans passed by them. After this, the program began with Forest HIll Students introducing Veterans, reading essays they wrote about Veterans, and singing Patriotic songs. The FHES Choir led in singing a Patriotic Medley and the National Anthem. FHES Boy Scouts presented the colors, and Foxes First Club members directed in the pledge. Mr. Percoski explained the purpose of the folding of the American flag while active soldiers demonstrated. Students, faculty, and Veterans observed a moment of silence for Veterans who had passed away, and GMSD's Chris Cooper played "Taps" on his trumpet. The program ended with the students singing all of the Armed Forces theme songs, while the guests stood during their song. GMSD's Kate Crowder recorded the program live on Facebook for parents to watch.
