Two GMSD schools compete in a national competition in Atlanta

Last weekend the HMS chamber orchestra, HMS orchestra, RES orchestra, and RES band traveled to the World Strides Festival in Atlanta to compete. The competition was held at North Atlanta High School, with schools between New Jersey to Florida participating. This national competition was very prestigious, with college band professors judging the musicians. The professors used instructional judging, in which they critiqued the students after they played, and then went on stage and directed them with their helpful comments. After two days of competing, the GMSD students visited Six Flags park for a break. Saturday night, everyone gathered at the Georgia aquarium for the awards ceremony. The results for GMSD groups are as follows:

HMS Chamber Orchestra- Gold ranking and 2nd overall
HMS Orchestra- Gold ranking and 2nd overall
RES Orchestra- Silver ranking and 3rd overall
RES Band- Silver ranking and 2nd overall

Congratulations to all of the GMSD students who represented their schools so well!
