GMSD wins big at the Perennial Math Competition

Perennial Math offers three types of competition for students in grades 3-12: including live tournaments hosted at colleges or schools. This year's competition was held at Christian Brothers University on Saturday, March 18th.

Germantown Municipal Schools saw large scale participation from its teams hailing from Farmington Elementary School (sending a record 45 students) along with Dogwood and Houston Middle who also prepared and sent teams to the annual math competition.

Perennial Math awards the top three individual mathletes in each age group along with the top three five-man teams in each age group. Out of a total of 50 winning individuals/teams placing in the top three positions, GMSD schools garnered a little over half of them! 28 of our students and teams earned big prizes--which you can see for yourself in the graphics below.  Congratulations to our students!

Perennial Math was created by Dr. Sylvia Dean, a gifted specialist and administrator for 26 years in Huntsville, Alabama. She wanted to offer students more venues to showcase their talents and to help teachers develop math skills in their classroom.
