Teresa Price has been named Assistant Superintendent of Academic Education

GERMANTOWN, TN—October 9, 2010—With great pride, Germantown Municipal Schools announces that Teresa Price has been named the new Assistant Superintendent of Academic Education.  In this position, Ms. Price will provide leadership in developing, achieving and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services in Germantown Municipal Schools.

Mrs. Price brings a vast array of leadership experiences to this position. Most recently, she has served Germantown students as the Principal of Dogwood Elementary School.  Under her leadership, the school has achieved tremendous results in student achievement and growth.

Understanding fully the value of stakeholders, Mrs. Price believes strongly in community engagement committees; whether in capital planning, calendar selection, course alignment, data analysis, professional development, or RTI implementation.

Prior to her tenure as Principal of Dogwood Elementary School, Price served as the Director of Academic Advancement for the Germantown Municipal School District, which was a combined department that included both academics and students with disabilities (currently a separate Department of Exceptional Student Education).  As one of the original founding members of the District Office Cabinet, Mrs. Price helped to create a world-class school system in 2014.  She is uniquely cognizant of the stakeholders, the strengths, and the challenges of Germantown Municipal School District.

“Mrs. Price is a dedicated educator and administrator who is impassioned about serving children, developing and working with teachers and school staff,” says Superintendent Jason Manuel.  “Combined with her experience as a school level leader, she will help guide our district staff and current principals in matters of curriculum, professional development, programming, scheduling, and data interpretation”.

Mrs. Price has served as an educator for 23 years. Her experience ranges from roles as a classroom teacher, Director, Instructional Facilitator, Special Education Coordinator for Shelby County Schools, and a school board member within in the Shelby County School System.

Mrs. Price shared that the decision to leave her position as Principal of Dogwood was incredibly difficult, “It is very hard to leave my Disney World.  I work in the best district on earth.  In the end it was passion versus passion and the pull to return to what we started [in 2014] won out”. Honored to have spent the last three years at Dogwood, Mrs. Price wants her Dolphin Family to know, “I am not going far and will be around to see all of our babies grow into amazing adults.”
