Germantown, Tennessee--October 9, 2019--Riverdale is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Saturday, November 2nd, with a festival and silent auction featuring guest speakers including Dave Carlisle, Richard Holden, and Helen Argo. There will also be a Mix & Mingle and program for alumni of ages as well as school tours led by student ambassadors.
The festival includes activities such as a bouncy house, cake walk, rock wall, and carnival. The Riverdale band, orchestra, choir, cheer, and theatre group will perform on stage during the festival. Food trucks will be made available. Valerie Shimko, the president of the Riverdale PTO, says, “We’re hoping that we can see all ages— from 1969 to 2019— of family, former students, and teachers come and celebrate.”
Riverdale has seen some tremendous changes over the course of 50 years, most notably, a new building that includes science labs and art studios, as well as a gym. When asked about her hopes for the future, Shimko responded, “We just hope to always keep moving in the right direction and give the kids the best education and well-rounded experience they can have. We, the teachers, kids, administration and the parents are all about the community and making it a better place.”
