Germantown, Tennessee--May 21, 2019--Houston High School theater teacher, Kell Christie, has been chosen as an Honorable Mention for the Excellence in Theater Education Award by the Tony Awards in New York. Each year, the Tony Awards in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University invite member of the public to submit candidates.
Laree Carter, an HHS theater student, submitted her teacher Kell Christie by telling the story of how Ms. Christie made a difference in her life and in the lives of others. The Excellence in Theater Education Award choses twenty-five teachers across the country as Honorable Mentions. Kell Christie will be featured in the Tony Awards Playbill and be featured on TonyAwards.com.
