Houston goes global with International Extravaganza

While many are planning to travel over the summer, Houston’s International Club wanted to bring the travel to them with the annual International Extravaganza. The International Extravaganza is a beloved and highly-anticipated event at Houston High School.

Students bring in an array of international foods, creating a global buffet, complete with everything from baklava to madelines to egg rolls and much more.

The school is also decorated with a variety of flags adorning the building and cultural displays from many represented countries. One such display even included a henna table, where students did beautiful henna designs on patrons.

The event finally culminated in a multi-faceted cultural showcase featuring multiple countries and regions. There was a taekwando demonstration, a Korean fan dance, a k-pop routine, a German folk dance, a Hawaiian hula and more. The show was hilariously hosted by seniors Courtney Noisette and Mykal Bayne and ended with a fashion show partially student designed that showcased beautiful traditional garb from around the world.

It was a truly wonderful evening celebrating so much of what makes Houston and our world unique, and we cannot wait until next year.
