HHS lacrosse team bound for state tournament

While we like to think of Houston High as one big, happy family, there are few groups as true to this as that of the boys’ lacrosse team, affectionately nicknamed the “lax bros”.  These players have worked tirelessly all season long, both in teamwork and athleticism, to have a shot at the state title.
Lacrosse is one of the most physically demanding sports, combining elements of soccer, basketball, and hockey, and to achieve as the Houston team has this year is quite the athletic feat.
With a regular season record of 17-4, they have triumphed consistently all season long, heading this weekend to Nashville to compete for the state championship.
Beginning in May, the team found success in their first two tournament games a part of their club division one journey to the top, and this Saturday, they will take on Brentwood in the final game for the state title.

However, work ethic and winning isn’t all there is to this team.
“I think the best thing about the team is that our senior class has been playing together for a long time, some of us since elementary and middle school,” said senior Garrison Carroll when contemplating his time on the team, “Now that we’re seniors it is hard to believe that it has come to an end, but there would be no better way to go out than winning the tournament.”
The bond these boys share, as well as their dedication to the game, is certain to serve them well in Nashville this weekend. GMSD wishes them the very best of luck.
