GMSD has aMAYzing winners in Memphis in May competitions

While April has been full of many fantastic achievements, the successes of some GMSD students indicate an even more aMAYzing May. Memphis in May hosts a variety of educational competitions to encourage a show of creativity and demonstrated knowledge of the honored country every year. Competitions are open to all students attending public, private, or home school within Shelby County, Tennessee, and of this group, four GMSD students were singled out as winners.

In the Creative Writing category, Farmington student Nipun Rajan won second place in the Grade 4-5 division, and Houston Middle’s Susan Zhang won third place in the Grade 6-8 division. Two other Farmington students also found success in the International Paper Children’s Poster Contest, with Samarth Rajan winning second place in the Grade K-2 division and Jayne Cho winning first place in the Grade 5-6 division, pictured below.

Farmington Elmentary student Jayne Cho has also been named the GRAND WINNER of the contest. 


Competition winners are awarded certificates and cash prizes at an awards ceremony in the spring.
