Germantown Women’s Club makes donations to local school art programs

GERMANTOWN, TN—July 9, 2017—“We support our local schools,” says Emily Underwood, President of the Germantown Women’s Club.  Underwood, the incoming president stopped by in person to deliver this message to Superintendent Jason Manuel of Germantown Municipal Schools last week—along with donation checks made out to each school.

“Our families have been so impressed with some of the great programming, and specifically,” Underwood adds, “we want to donate money to the art programs”.  Underwood shares that she has grandchildren in the system who routinely participate in the visual arts and in school theatrical productions at Riverdale Elementary School.

Each elementary and middle school, was awarded a $400 donation toward their art programs by the generous Germantown Women’s Club. 
“Art teachers can use them for supplies, or whatever their needs are.  We want to see these wonderful programs flourish,” said Underwood. 
“It’s wonderful that our community, and civic groups like the Women’s Club are finding personal ways to contribute to our schools,” says Superintendent Manuel.
