Germantown, Tennessee--November 16, 2017--Each month during the school year, the Germantown Education Commission honors a teacher a Winners are selected from those nominated by parents, students, teachers or school administrators. Teacher of the Month award winners must teach in a public or private school within Germantown. Awards are presented monthly during meetings of the Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
The Board was proud to recognize the October 2017 Teacher of the Month, Ms. Morgan Grow. Ms. Grow is a third grade science and social studies teacher at Dogwood Elementary School, where she encourages students to develop of a love of learning. She is loved and respected by her students because she teaches them so much more than academics – she helps them learn how to be their best. Ms. Grow is the sponsor of the Dogwood Environmental Club, where she helps Dogwood students and their families explore and understand the natural world around the school and in their neighborhoods. The Environmental Club has enhanced the learning opportunities for all Dogwood students by creating a butterfly garden on campus and monitoring families of bluebirds that live on the Dogwood campus. She also started the successful Dogwood recycling program.
