Nashville, Tennessee--November 5th, 2017--During its annual convention each year, the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) honors a school volunteer who has distinguished herself/himself by demonstrating exceptional commitment to volunteerism in a local school district; exhibited leadership, creativity, cooperation, and hard work in their service to a school; engaged in the creation, organization and or mobilization of volunteers; demonstrated sustained commitment to meeting the district’s needs and helped with a special project or ongoing activities. The 2017 winner of the TSBA School Volunteer Recognition Award is Bonnie Lee of Germantown, Tennessee.
Ms. Lee is the quintessential, supporting PTA mother at Riverdale K-8 school. She heads committees on both the school and district PTAs. She goes above and beyond to provide exceptional volunteer service and fundraising efforts. She is invested in learning about digital citizenship and helping others parents and the students learn about the new and foreign internet landscape.
She organized a nationally renowned guest speaker to present Tech Savvy Parenting, a symposium open to all parents in the school district. She has also worked with the district’s technology department to administer an online discussion group aimed at parents with questions about technological safeguards in the home. She advocates fo the arts and works each week in the art department at Riverdale. Ms. Lee has served in numerous volunteer leadership roles.
