October 6, 2017—Germantown, Tennessee—Earlier this afternoon, Germantown School Board Chairman Linda Fisher, Superintendent Jason Manuel, and Chief of Operations Josh Cathey met to close on Germantown Municipal School District’s new school property located off of Forest Hill Irene Road and Poplar Pike.
We are thankful for our relationship with the City of Germantown leadership, who places a priority on education and funding our schools. This land purchase was a major step towards addressing the growth needs of the district and community,” said Superintendent Jason Manuel.
“This was a culminating event made possible by the work of numerous stakeholders over the past year. Two town hall meetings, four site analysis committee meetings, two city-wide surveys, interactive virtual property tours and physical school board tours finally led to a selection of the Broer/Schaeffer Properties. In all of our decisions that have a significant impact on our community, we take great pride in the level of stakeholder engagement and participation,” said Chief of Operations Josh Cathey.
A new K-5 elementary school is currently being designed through a similar process to the land selection. District leadership is hopeful to break ground in the Spring of 2018 with a target of opening the building for the 2019-2020 school year.
