fortunate to have many incredible counselors who dedicate themselves daily to
serving in the best interests of our students. Recently, one of these
remarkable professionals was honored by the Tennessee School Counselor
Association and was presented with the Middle School Counselor of the Year Award:
Ms. Carla Christian.
Ms. Christian is
an outstanding counselor at Houston Middle School. She helped pioneer Houston
Middle School's mission to meet the standards set by the American School

Because of this exemplary
school and guidance accomplishment led by Ms. Christian, Houston Middle was
also awarded the RAMP Award by ASCA. In addition, Ms. Christian has gone even
beyond these national standards to implement even more programs, like the
Career and College Expo with over 50 different vendors, that further prepare
HMS students for their future in high school and beyond.
