Germantown, Tennessee--December 19, 2018--Germantown Municipal School District is excited to announce that Ashley Brasfield has been selected as Principal of Farmington Elementary School. With 13 years of educational experience and long-proven passion for Farmington Elementary School, Brasfield has served as the Assistant Principal of the school for the past three years, but began teaching at FES in 2011. Serving in various leadership roles as a teacher, she transitioned to the district office as the Student Services Coordinator in 2014. Ultimately, though, she wanted to return to her Falcon family and became their Assistant Principal in 2015.
Mrs. Brasfield has demonstrated a commanding knowledge of instruction and commitment to the work being done in collaborative teacher work groups. “Mrs. Brasfield’s instructional knowledge is only surpassed by her desire to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere at FES,” said current Principal Zac Percoski. In a well-detailed transition plan, Brasfield outlines her vision for Farmington which includes an increased emphasis on social emotional learning for the students and the strengthening of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) work amongst teachers. “I envision a school in which students are empowered in their learning through goal setting and participate in monitoring their own successes,” said Brasfield.
“Mrs. Brasfield has a proven talent for improving instructional practices, sourcing additional curriculum materials, but she also has the ability to bring the Farmington family together with her dynamic and compassionate leadership skills. She has shown tremendous growth and commitment to the staff, students, and parents at Farmington Elementary School. We know that the school will flourish under her leadership,” said Superintendent Jason Manuel.
