Zac Percoski named the Principal of Forest Hill Elementary School

Germantown, Tennessee--November 14, 2018--Germantown Municipal School District is proud to announce that Mr. Zac Percoski, who currently serves as Farmington Elementary School Principal, has chosen to accept the principal position for Forest Hill Elementary School.

District administration recognizes that it would be a challenge to open a new school while also learning how to become a GMSD principal.  The new elementary school principal position was opened to existing principals first.

Zac Percoski began working in the field of education 16 years ago as a Biology and English teacher at Bolton High School.  He then served as the Assistant Principal of Southwind Elementary School where he was later named Principal.  In 2013, he transitioned to Farmington Elementary School. Under Mr. Percoski’s leadership the school has been recognized multiple times by the state as a reward school for high achievement. When asked what he was most proud of accomplishing, however, Percoski said, “I feel like we’ve really built a sense of community, a sense of family.” Percoski has demonstrated an ability to move the needle on both student achievement and school culture.  In 2018, Farmington was also recognized by the state for its academic growth.

“We are pleased that one of our established principals will be leading our new elementary school. Mr. Percoski brings 13 years of administrative experience and has a proven record of both building positive culture while improving student performance,” said Superintendent Jason Manuel.
“This decision is bittersweet. I am both sad to be leaving and excited about the opportunities to build a school from the ground up,” said Percoski on the move to Forest Hill Elementary School.
Percoski also noted that his children will remain enrolled at Farmington where they will continue to enjoy a world-class education.  In fact, he says he’s looking forward to participating in the school as a parent.  Percoski has four children, triplets in the third grade and a sixth grader at Houston Middle School.  His wife, Wendy Percoski, works as a Vice President of Triumph Bank.  In his spare time, he enjoys coaching basketball for the Germantown Basketball League.

Forest Hill Elementary School will open in the Fall of 2019 with room for just over 800 students and will be a state-of-the-art facility.  The design of the school by A2H Architects included stakeholder input through surveys, focus groups, and committees of teachers and parents.  It will include a STEM lab, a dining hall, a full-sized gym with hardwood floors, large windows and gorgeous views of the heavily wooded campus. Percoski is particularly excited about the Activity Rooms which are unique features that were conceived by a focus group made up of GMSD elementary teachers.  “They will give teachers a chance to do different things in their instruction and give students a flexible space to work on special projects,” he said.  Each hallway will contain its own Activity Room complete with sinks for art projects, places for storage, and additional options for both small groups and class-to-class collaborations.

The Germantown Municipal School District Human Resources Department will immediately begin the hiring process to replace Mr. Percoski, and he will transition to his new role during the Spring of 2019.  The new principal of Farmington Elementary School will be selected and announced before the second semester begins.
