Dogwood Cross Country Team zooms into the fall season with two first place team wins

Germantown, Tennessee--September 10, 2018--The Dogwood Cross Country team participates in many races throughout the season.  They practice three times a week and participates in fun team building activities like cross country camp in the preseason, movie nights, and team dinners and outings. The team is participating in Memphis Youth Athletic league where they run in five to six one-mile races against other elementary schools at Shelby Farms during September and October.  5th grader, Renee Wang said, “ This race was awesome, but it was so hot! I was proud of my time of 7.22, and I am confident that I will beat my PR of 6.57 this season!”
One of the school sponsors, Linda Fredrick said, “This year’s team is off to a great start.  We participated in HOKA One-Miler race on August 24 and both our girls and boys teams won first place.  Our first MYA meet on Sept 4 was also a big success.  For the first time in our team’s history, our girls’ team got a first place finish at a MYA event, racing against 20 other Memphis area teams.  Our boys team continued their success and also came in first place.  The students have worked hard all summer to be ready for the competition they will meet this season.”
