Dr. Thomas Suchman appointed Assistant Principal of Houston High School

Germantown, Tennessee--May 9, 2019--Germantown Municipal School District is excited to announce that Dr. Thomas Suchman has been appointed as Assistant Principal of Houston High School.  Dr. Suchman has been teaching for twenty-one years, twenty of which have been at Houston High School.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Rhodes College, which originally brought him to the Memphis Area.  He also holds a Master of Arts in Education from Cumberland University, Administration Licensure from Christian Brothers University and a Doctor of Education in K12 Educational Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University.  

While at Houston High School he has taught 10th and 12th Grade Honors and Standard English, Classical Mythology, Honors and Standard Etymology, and Dual Enrollment English through the University of Memphis.  

He has also held many leadership positions within the school and the district, including; Title I Facilitator, Department Chair, Teacher Advisory Council, AdvancED Team Member, GMSD Strategic Planning Committee, Honors Academy Council, School Improvement Chairperson, Learning Coach, New Teacher Mentor, and School Data-Lead.  

Outside of the classroom, Dr. Suchman is a musician and an avid record-collector and estimates that he has played on about fifteen records/releases while in Memphis.  When asked about the appointment he shared, “I’m thrilled and humbled to be given an opportunity to take an administrative role at a school that has been the focus of my life for the last twenty years”.
