Germantown, Tennessee--August 27, 2020--This past weekend the Houston High football team had their first game of the season against Christian Brothers High School. The team lost but played valiantly, with a score of fourteen to twenty-four. James Thomas, the head football coach this year, said “The team gave a great effort for the most part. At the end of the day, we made too many mistakes to beat a good opponent. We’ll get it corrected and move on.” However, Coach Thomas is excited about the new players on his team. He stated, “The freshmen are a really talented group. They won their first game 28-0 over Briarcrest.” When talking about the team as a whole this year, Coach Thomas explained, “The team is totally different than last year. We still need to find our identity and improve in a lot of areas. We look forward to finding our way to be at our best come playoff time.” The Houston High Mustangs are looking forward to what’s to come for the team this year and can’t wait for another great season!
