Houston High wrestling team ends fantastic season

Houston High is home to scores of incredible athletic programs. One such program is that of the Houston High wrestling team. The Houston High wrestling team closed out this year’s season with an impressive winning record of 19-10.

Some impressive accomplishments include a second place win in the district, a third place win in the region with a whopping nine state qualifiers, and then another second place win in the regional duals, allowing the entire team to advance to state duals. Teammates Jake Manuel and Cade Young were also named region champions, with Collins Fisher and Kip Frankland coming in close behind as region runner-ups. Manuel was also voted the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Most recently, the team brought their talents to the state stage and represented both Houston and GMSD remarkably. Jake Manuel and Cade Young demonstrated their fantastic athleticism once again, advancing all the way to quarterfinals, and teammate Kip Frankland impressively finished in the top eight.

We are so proud to see all that our wrestling team has accomplished this season and cannot wait to see what lies in store for next year. Congrats on a job well done.
