The stage at Houston Middle School is ready for its close-up, thanks to Ryan Clausen’s Eagle Scout Project
Germantown, Tennessee--December 11, 2018--Ryan Clausen, a senior at Houston High School, submitted his plans for his Eagle Scout stage project back in August to the school. Under his plan, he wanted to give the stage at Houston Middle School a small facelift.  The extension along the face of the stage is masked by black curtains that have “seen better days” according to Principal Liz Dias.

Clausen, along with some fellow members of Boy Scout Troup 270 of Germantown, worked diligently to replace the fabric mask with a more permanent wooden one that includes cabinet doors, increasing both aesthetics and functionality of the structure.

They spent several weekends and evenings designing, measuring, and working on the stage project for the students at Houston Middle. Ryan led his fellow troop members in adding the finishing touches to the stage drawers and revealed the completed work in late November.

Clausen told Dias that the project had “exceeded his expectations”. And, Dias whole heartedly agreed. “Ryan’s work adds a whole new look to the stage. Throughout his scouting experience, Ryan has demonstrated his leadership skills in participating in several service projects to benefit his community,” she said. Dias also noted that Clausen is an HMS alumnus and that made the project even all the more special for her.
