The Memphis-Shelby County Spelling Bee Results Are In
RES 5th grader, Sophia Overstreet, passed all four rounds and qualified in the top 10 for the written test. She placed fourth while competing against 133 outstanding participants from schools in the Memphis and Shelby County area. Click here to read the full story.
 
 
 
Young Artists Compete at the Brooks' Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards
2,000 entries in a wide variety of categories, including painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, sculpture, graphic design, film, fashion, as well as senior art portfolios are judged by a panel of judges over a course of several days. Click here to read the full story.

Transformational, Innovative, Student-centric Programs
Our program of creating “coach” positions has had a tremendous impact. In March of 2015, our universal screener found 610 children (grades K-8) who required state mandated intervention. HHS teacher spent years living behind the Berlin Wall
Doreen Penrod, Houston High School’s very own native-born German teacher, shared her fascinating experiences living behind the Berlin Wall before its fall. She is pictured here holding a piece of the wall. She spoke to Mrs. Flowers’ English students who are studying this time period in their readings. Sharing some of her experiences living in East Berlin, Mrs. Penrod reminds us all to be grateful for our freedom.

Grayson Young was Region 8 Champion and won his 2nd Regional title
Travis Arthur finished 6th in the State was named the Region 8 Kyle Kiihnl Wrestler of the Year
