March 21st
Morgan Dorsey represented HMS at the Annual Engineers Week Student Contest. She created the idea for the 911 necklace. She made a project board and explained it to engineers from University of Memphis and Southwest Community College. Congrats to Morgan for advancing to the 2nd round.
March 22nd
Commercial Appeal All-Star – Luke Folse - Music
Luke, a senior, excels in music not only with the Tennessee All-State Band but also as a Tennessee All-State Choir member. He holds a 4.55 weighted grade point average and scored 35 on the ACT. He qualified for the band on clarinet for four year in a row. He has served as president of a 340-member band program, where he leads by example. He is a dedicated musician who works hard to reach the pinnacle of success. In addition to playing his own instrument, Luke often finds himself pushing a broom or moving equipment. He also shares his talents by tutoring other music students.
March 23rd
Congrats to Houston High Knowledge Bowl teams. A-team took first place and B-team came in fourth at Ole Miss UMAIT Tournament. Kudos to Coach Robert Lofton IV and Coach Martha Gunn-Poole!
March 24th Superintendent Manuel presented Tammy Wilson and Jennifer Ledford with the Teacher of the Year Awards at last night's Germantown BOE Meeting.
The 2015-2016 Budget was approved. 2015-2016 BudgetCongratulations to the 84 new inductees of the Houston High School National Honor Society.

Riverdale Wins!!
The 6-8 Battle of the Books team competed against St. George¹s in the first round of the tournament and will advance to compete in the South District round at Collierville Middle School in April. The team read a variety of ten fiction and non-fiction books and met over the course of 4
months. They are coached by Amy Balducci, Riverdale¹s Library Media
Specialist.
Weekend
The Farmington team won Battle of the Birds, a friendly 2 mile race between several elementary schools, including Dogwood, Riverdale, Bon Lin, Germantown, Bailey Station, and Farmington. Here are some pictures of the Dogwood team:
Houston High Color Guard bring home the Silver Medal
Dogwood ES had its Springfest, a very large community event held annually. Below are pictures from their version of a Dunk Tank. Tickets could be purchased to spray your favorite teacher with Silly String.
