Houston High School’s CyberPatriot Team Wins Southeast Region Open Division 2nd Place Gold Tier Award

 
 
February 10th
Riverdale's 4th-5th grade Destination Imagination team competed with 30 other local teams in a fun day last Saturday at Woodland School. Each team was asked to present short impromptu 5 minute presentations based on "instant challenges" and judged on specific criteria. Next, they will compete in the regional tournament presenting their "trash-eating" crocodile at the end of February.

Congratulations to Brian Fisher, GMSDs Coordinated School Health Coordinator, for being USTA Tennessee's 2014 recipient of the "Educational Merit Award."
 
 
Laree Carter, 8th grader at Riverdale Elementary was chosen as a Distinguished Finalist for Tennessee for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.  For the link, click HERE.
 
Laree Carter, 13, of Germantown, Tenn., an eighth-grader at Riverdale Elementary School, is an active member of the Riverdale Ropers, a Jump Rope for Heart demonstration team at her school. Laree and the Riverdale Ropers have helped to raise $10,000 for the American Heart Association while teaching kids how to jump rope and live fit lives. This past fall, Laree used her own money to buy jump ropes to hand out at a health fair in Frayser. Laree also has volunteered to teach jump rope skills at a jump rope program for at risk children in Memphis.
 
February 12th -
 
GMSD partnered with Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital and certified over 400 HHS students in both Adult & Child CPR & AED.  Thank you Brian Fisher for coordinating this.
 
 

February 13th -
Jump Rope For Heart at Dogwood ES - Since 1996, Dogwood has raised over $300,000 for Jump Rope for Heart. This year we had about 350 students participate in our annual fundraiser. As of today, we have raised $11,000 in online donations. We will have a final total next week. Our P.E. Teachers Angela Martin and Dana Guntharp organized the annual event.
