Germantown District Schools again lead state ACT scores

Read about the leading news this week from the Tennessee State Department of Education or the Commercial Appeal. Or, read the statement issued by Germantown Municipal Schools:

We are very proud of the achievement and the significantly increased average highest ACT score composite of our Houston High School graduates. The increase in the highest score ACT composite from a 24.9 to a 25.5 is a result of a focused effort by our teachers and our students, as well as a validation of the efforts to teach foundational skills from our elementary and middle teachers.

We are equally proud of the increase of our graduates who met all four of the college and career readiness benchmarks, as we moved from 49.7% to 56.7%.

As a district, GMSD realizes the importance of the ACT, and the impact the scores have on the future of our students.

“The continued rise in average ACT composite scores at HHS is the consolidated effort of students, teachers, parents and the entire GMSD family of schools working together to strive for excellence. By providing information, time and resources focused on the ACT and test taking strategies, our students demonstrated unprecedented growth from last year's scores and achieved the highest average ACT composite score, 25.5, in school history,” said Houston High School Principal Kyle Cherry.
