Coach Marvis Davis is entering his fourth year as the District Athletic Director for Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD). In a short period of time, Coach Davis has helped elevate the district’s athletic programs to new heights while continuing to build on the strong tradition of excellence that defines GMSD athletics. As Coach Davis often says, “We’re just getting started.”

Under his leadership, Houston High School athletics continues to thrive, building upon a tradition that includes more than 100 state championship accomplishments across various sports. One of the most historic moments during his tenure came when the Houston High School football team captured its first-ever state championship in program history, followed by a return trip to the state title game the following season—establishing Houston football among Tennessee’s premier programs.

Most recently, Houston High School Baseball continued its championship tradition by advancing to the 2026 TSSAA Class 4A State Championship Game, further highlighting the district’s commitment to competitive excellence and the continued success of student-athletes across GMSD. In addition, GMSD programs have continued to excel across multiple sports, with teams and student-athletes competing at the highest levels while representing the district with pride and excellence.

Coach Davis is passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the field and remains committed to creating opportunities that emphasize excellence, character, leadership, and growth. His vision for GMSD athletics centers on building championship cultures while ensuring student-athletes are prepared for success in competition, in the classroom, and in life.

Coach Davis is excited for the future of GMSD athletics and looks forward to continuing the momentum across all programs while supporting another incredible year for Houston football and Mustang athletics.
