October 2026 - Second-grade teacher Chloie Quinn has been named Farmington’s 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year for her dedication to student growth and creating a classroom where children feel seen, valued and loved. As a CKH leader, she builds meaningful relationships and supports her students beyond the school day by attending their events, performances and recitals.

October 2026 - For Houston High senior Matthew Durkin, giving back to the community has been a tradition for years. Now, he is working to make community service a larger part of student life through his new club, Opening Doors.

October 2026 - Houston High School alumnus Antonio Scott (’16) returned to his alma mater to share his career journey with Honors and Leadership Academy students, encouraging the next generation of Mustangs to embrace opportunities, trust their mentors and dream even bigger.

October 2026 -- Fourth grade ELA students at Dogwood Elementary became “poetry builders” for a day, using hands-on activities to deconstruct, construct, and explore the essential elements of poetry.

October 2026 - Riverdale financial secretary Caci Chasteen, the school’s 2026 RISE Award winner, makes an impact far beyond the numbers by supporting teachers, mentoring student bookstore helpers and bringing care, precision and a deep sense of community to her behind-the-scenes role.

October 2026 - GMSD earned districtwide recognition for excellence in civics education, with all six brick-and-mortar schools receiving the Governor’s Civics Seal and students putting that learning into action through award-winning Constitution Day essays.

September 2026 - Houston High School welcomed approximately 200 alumni from the Classes of 2001, 2006 and 2016 back to campus during Homecoming weekend for school tours, Friday night festivities and a chance to reconnect with classmates and their Mustang roots.
