The GMSD Connection:
Your GMSD news highlights:
Important Changes to Dress Code Being Considered
Welcome to the LAST week of school. We made it. The Germantown Board of Education met on Wednesday evening to discuss the Other Funds Budget, an RFP for the new employee health clinic, and several policies which include important changes to GMSD’s dress code, how TCAP and EOC scores are used in students’ grades, and many more. P lease reach out to your school board members if you have input. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 23rd.
This will also be your LAST GMSD Connection until next school year. Our team cannot thank you enough for sharing your stories, your wins, and your opportunities for students to make connections with one another.
Even though there won’t be Weekly Roundups throughout the summer, our team will still be happy to showcase your good news on social media. Submit your information and a photograph through our Let’s Talk System or directly to [email protected].
Congratulations to the Class of 2022
The lead story this week is that the Class of 2022 has graduated! Congratulations to GMSD’s newest alumni–who collectively earned over $39 million dollars in scholarships. A special congratulations also goes out to our seven GOAL graduates, the first students to graduate from our fully virtual school.
Here are a few fun facts about the Class of 2020:
More than any class they have intentionally found ways to build community among their cohort--from developing a virtual peer tutoring program last year to the newly added senior sunrise and sunset--they have looked for ways to support each other and soak up senior year together.
We will remember how they encouraged one another. Students like Jacob Ward who attended nearly EVERY school event or both Anjali Chheda and Priyanka Phaniraj who spent their after school free time tutoring and checking in on virtual students. We will also never forget Sydney Dacus working hard to make sure that anyone who needed a prom date found one. This class learned that being together was not to be taken for granted. Good luck out there, Mustangs Class of 2022!
In Case You Missed It...
Thank you to all of the families that attended our final parent engagement workshop with Allison Edwards on Thursday night. If you missed this great session on the Emotional Effects of Social Media on children, this recording will be available for seven days.
