Weather Alert Notification Released on January 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

Whenever winter weather rolls through, school systems are faced with the daunting task of deciding if schools need to close to keep students, staff, and parents safe.  The Germantown Municipal School District’s Inclement Weather Team has been carefully monitoring weather conditions and forecasts overnight and have identified potential safety concerns for students and staff during arrival tomorrow morning.

It is a challenge to determine a school closure based on a forecast, but due to the timing that the inclement weather is projected to arrive, Germantown Municipal School District will be closed on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

The Germantown Municipal School District has 8.5 extra days, above and beyond what is required by the state, built into the calendar in the event of inclement weather or other school closures.  These 8.5 days do not have to be made up and must be exhausted before GMSD exercises virtual learning days.

The status of after school activity cancellations will be determined at a later time.  *GOAL families should look for an email from Dr. Heather Fisher for additional information specific to our stand-alone virtual school students.
