Finalsite Mass Notifications

Not Receiving District Messages? Start Here.
We use PowerSchool for contact info and Finalsite (ParentLink) to deliver emails, texts, and phone calls. If you aren’t getting messages, it’s usually one of the fixes below. Our team is also easy to reach quickly via Let's Talk.
This site is designed to help you fix these issues yourself. Each section walks you through the steps, with screenshots for reference.
Important: Any changes you make in PowerSchool will take effect overnight. The system syncs with Finalsite once a day, so please allow up to 24 hours before expecting to receive messages.

1) Custodial guardianship isn’t checked in PowerSchool
Why it matters: Only contacts marked as custodial/guardian are synced to our notification system.
Why it happens: During online registration, many families missed the custodial/guardianship checkboxes.
Fix (2–3 minutes):
- Log in to PowerSchool (Parent Portal).
- Open Registration & Forms ➜ Parent/Guardian and Emergency Information.
- Click the pencil/edit icon next to each parent/guardian.
- Make sure the applicable boxes are checked (examples):
- Has Custody/Guardianship
- Lives with Student (if applicable)
- Emergency Contact
- School Pickup
- Receives Messages/Notifications (if shown)
- Save/Submit each contact.
This must be correct for you to receive emails, phone calls, and texts.

2) Not receiving text messages (SMS)
Texts use your PowerSchool data.
- In PowerSchool, confirm your mobile number is listed under you (not your student).
- Make sure the number is labeled Mobile/Cell (not Home).
- Check the box that allows SMS/Text alerts for that number.
- Save/Submit.
Only numbers marked as Mobile and SMS-allowed transfer correctly into Finalsite/ParentLink.

3) You may have opted out (blocked) messages
Germantown Municipal School District uses Finalsite/ParentLink. FCC rules allow you to opt out of routine messages. (Emergency alerts still go through.)
How to unsubscribe (opt out):
- Text (SMS): Reply STOP to any Finalsite text or to 901-704-0285.
- Email: Click Unsubscribe at the bottom of any district/school email.
- Phone Calls: They should call 855-502-STOP (855-502-7867) from the phone number they wish to opt out of.
How to resubscribe (opt back in):
- Text (SMS): From the opted-out phone, text START to 901-704-0285.
- Add noreply@gmsdk12.org to your safe-senders list so emails don’t go to spam.
- Phone Calls: Families who previously opted out of phone calls can opt back in by calling the Finalsite Messages XR Phone Hotline at 855-502-STOP (855-502-7867) from the phone number that was opted out.
