TISA Funding Plan
TISA: Tennessee’s Investment in Student Achievement Funding Plan
Tennessee’s Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) is a new way of deciding how to distribute state funding to public schools in Tennessee. The goal of TISA is to make sure that all students have access to a high-quality education, regardless of where they live, or what their background is.
TISA takes into account a number of factors when distributing funding, including:
- The number of students in each school and their attendance
- The number of students who are economically disadvantaged
- The number of students who are English language learners
- The number of students with disabilities, or other challenges like dyslexia
- The performance of each school on state assessments or ready graduates
TISA also provides additional funding for schools that are making progress towards their goals and for schools that are serving students with the greatest needs.
That’s where you come in. Teams of teachers, administrators and district leaders have determined the district’s goals. Our new TISA funding plan accounts for the district’s plan to tackle those goals. A new state procedure requires each district to gather feedback on its plan. We need you to review the goals and the strategies that GMSD has proposed, and provide feedback according to those goals.
Three Simple Funding Goals
