Building Excellence Behind the Scenes

The Operations Department plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Germantown Municipal School District by overseeing facilities and various business operations. From maintenance, custodial services, and capital improvement projects to energy management, land acquisition, transportation, and emergency preparedness, our team handles critical aspects of district operations. We also contribute to strategic decision-making through committee work, including efforts like the start time committee, zoning committee, site selection committee, design review committee, custodial RFP committee, and the facilities master plan committee, all aimed at supporting the success and growth of our schools.

Since opening our doors in 2014, GMSD has invested over $100 million in our schools, completing transformative renovations across every campus.

In just ten years, our commitment to excellence has earned us regional and national recognition for innovative design, including awards for Forest Hill Elementary, Riverdale’s Middle School addition, and Houston Middle School's expansion. Forest Hill Elementary School- Classroom

Flexible furniture and vibrant fixtures are a brand standard we utilize in all of our elementary schools.

This striking light well is a perfect example of how we prioritize natural light in our school spaces, creating brighter, more inspiring environments that promote learning and well-being.

This playful and colorful bus waiting area combines modern design with functionality, creating a welcoming and engaging space where students can relax, socialize, and feel at home.

Riverdale Middle School--Science & STEM Lab

This versatile science space is thoughtfully designed for mixed-use, accommodating everything from robotics and STEM projects to traditional science lessons, fostering hands-on learning and innovation.

Riverdale Elementary- Ceiling Tile and Grid

We repaint each school every seven years and are upgrading all existing buildings with energy-efficient LED lighting, new ceiling tiles and grids, and improved wiring infrastructure.

Riverdale Middle School- Hallways

The Riverdale Addition

GMSD's first renovation project, replaced 22 portables with a permanent brick-and-mortar solution, providing modern, spacious classrooms and enhancing the learning environment for students.

Houston Middle School STEM Lab

The two new state-of-the-art STEM labs at Houston Middle School provide dynamic, flexible spaces designed for hands-on learning. Equipped with modern tools, mobile workstations, and ample natural light, these labs empower students to explore robotics, engineering, coding, and innovative projects.

Band Rooms

Our high school and middle schools have all renovated their band spaces, featuring enhanced acoustics, specialized instrument storage, and spacious layouts designed to support both practice and performance, ensuring an optimal environment for student musicians.


 

 

Varsity Soccer Locker Room

Our newly designed varsity locker rooms for softball, football, and soccer feature modern, spacious layouts with custom-built lockers and team branding, with additional locker rooms set to follow soon.


 

Houston Middle School- Varsity Gym

The newly designed gym, featuring over 1,000 seats—the largest in GMSD—boasts six adjustable basketball goals, a dividing curtain for flexible use, natural light optimized for gameplay, acoustic panels, custom artwork, and a state-of-the-art sound system, enhancing its use for both school and City of Germantown programs.
