TCAP Family Portal

Individual Student State Assessment Results

The Tennessee Department of Education shares detailed TCAP score reports with families and schools each year, providing insights into student performance from the previous school year. The district will communicate when these reports become available, typically in the fall as students return to school. Families can access results through the TCAP Family Portal, an online tool offering valuable insights into students' strengths and areas for growth based on state assessments.

The TCAP Family Portal has been such a powerful tool for our family. It helps us clearly understand our child's strengths and areas where they can grow, giving us a roadmap to support their learning at home and celebrate their progress.

The Tennessee Department of Education’s TCAP Family Portal is a free, online resource that is designed to help inform families of students’ strengths and areas for growth. This resource has valuable information which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • TCAP/EOC scale scores and performance levels by subject

  • Lexile level

  • Test history features which allow families to track progress over time

  • Links to Parent Guides

  • Next-step recommendations

What will you find in the portal?

  • You will find student’s scores compared to grade-level expectations. Additionally, you will find a measure of whether the student scored Below Expectations, Approaching Expectations, Met Expectations, or Exceeded Expectations based on their TCAP results.

  • Personalized Student Video Reports in five languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Mandarin, which provide a quick, easy-to-understand summary of the student’s TCAP results, areas of strengths, and areas where they may need support in the year ahead.

  • An individualized summary in all subject areas: For example, in ELA you might see that the student excelled at editing text for grammar, needs additional work using relevant text evidence, and a recommended practice would be using informational text to support the main idea.

  • Historical data is available for you to track the student’s academic achievement and acceleration over time. This provides you with an opportunity to compare the student’s academic progress in a specific subject this year to progress in that same subject in past years.

How do I access reports?

Families can access reports at familyreport.tnedu.gov. Families should use the student’s USID number (a student-specific, state Id number) to create or log into an existing account. Additional information on how to access the portal.

Although the TCAP Family Portal is a helpful resource for families, please keep in mind that this is an optional resource, and printed, individual, student reports will continue to be available through our GMSD schools (by late August).

Thank you for being a part of the GMSD family, and we are looking forward to having another amazing year!
