Award-Winning Author Greg Pizzoli to Visit GMSD Elementary Schools

Award-Winning Author Greg Pizzoli

Germantown Municipal School District is excited to welcome acclaimed children’s author and illustrator Greg Pizzoli to all four elementary schools later this month.

On Thursday, April 30, and Friday, May 1, Pizzoli will visit Dogwood, Farmington, Forest Hill, and Riverdale, sharing his stories and creative process with our youngest learners in PK through second grade.

Pizzoli is a four-time Theodor Seuss Geisel Award winner and the creator of the popular Baloney and Friends graphic novel series and the Earl and Worm early reader series. Many students may already recognize his work from favorite picture books like The Watermelon Seed, Good Night Owl, Lucky Duck, and The Book Hog. He also brings a unique storytelling style to nonfiction, including Tricky Vic, named a New York Times Best Illustrated Book, and Pizza! A Slice of History.

Author visits like this are more than just a fun event. They help students see themselves as readers, writers, and creators. Hearing directly from an author about how stories come to life often sparks curiosity and inspires a lifelong love of reading.

Families also have the opportunity to purchase books ahead of the visit for a personalized author signing. Order forms are available for each school:
