Coming Soon: GMSD Elementary Basketball League

For the first time, elementary students will have the opportunity to proudly represent their schools in a structured, school-based basketball league designed to develop skills, build confidence, encourage teamwork and create lasting memories.

This exciting new opportunity will bring together fourth- and fifth-grade boys and girls from Dogwood Elementary, Farmington Elementary, Forest Hill Elementary and Riverdale Elementary to compete in a fun, positive and development-focused environment centered around school pride and sportsmanship.

More than just basketball, the league is another step forward in providing meaningful opportunities for students while strengthening the athletic pathway from our elementary schools to Houston Middle School, Riverdale K-8 and ultimately Houston High School.

• Registration opens: Nov. 9, 2026
• Registration and payment deadline: Nov. 23, 2026
• Player fee: $200
• Regular-season games begin: Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2027
• Game days: Wednesdays for six consecutive weeks
• Game times: 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
• Championship: Following the six-week regular season, date to be announced

Teams may practice up to twice per week, with practices lasting no more than 90 minutes.

At GMSD, we believe athletics are an extension of the classroom. Participation in school-based athletics helps students develop leadership, discipline, perseverance, confidence and a strong sense of belonging. The Elementary Basketball League will create another opportunity for students to grow both on and off the court.

We can't wait to see our youngest athletes wearing their school colors, representing their schools with pride and creating new traditions for our community.
