GMSD Expands Employee Healthcare Access Through New PartneredWell Partnership

For GMSD employees, taking care of themselves and their families just got a little easier.

Germantown Municipal School District has partnered with PartneredWell to expand healthcare options for employees and their eligible dependents, providing access to six health centers across the Memphis area beginning Sept. 25.

The new partnership builds on GMSD's existing employee Health and Wellness Center by providing something employees have increasingly asked for: more choices for when and where they receive care.

“Finding time for a doctor's appointment during the school day isn't always easy,” Assistant Superintendent Elissa Stratton said. “Our employees spend their days taking care of students, and we want to make it easier for them to take care of themselves and their families. Expanding from one location to six, with evening and weekend availability, gives our employees options that better fit their lives.”

Employees and covered dependents enrolled in the GMSD health insurance plan can use PartneredWell health centers at no cost. Most locations are open seven days a week, and employees can either schedule an appointment in advance or simply walk in with priority access. Typical visits take approximately 40 to 55 minutes from arrival to departure.

Six Locations, More Flexibility

Through the partnership, GMSD employees will have access to six Memphis area locations affiliated with Baptist Urgent Care:

  • Germantown, 7860 Wolf River Blvd.
  • Collierville, 397 New Byhalia Road
  • Bartlett, 8350 Highway 64
  • Bartlett, 3025 Kirby Whitten Road
  • Horn Lake, Mississippi, 3040 Goodman Road W.
  • Olive Branch, Mississippi, 5142 Goodman Road

Locations are open seven days a week, including evening and weekend hours, giving employees more opportunities to seek care without having to fit an appointment into the traditional workday.

More Than Urgent Care

The partnership also expands the types of care available to GMSD employees and their families.

PartneredWell centers provide acute and urgent care for illnesses, injuries and infections, including colds, flu, COVID, urinary tract infections and ear infections. Employees can also access preventive care such as annual health assessments, physicals, screenings, immunizations and men's and women's health services.

For employees managing ongoing health needs, the centers also provide treatment and follow up care for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and obesity. On site lab services and medications are also available.

Another component of the program is access to a PartneredWell Care Guide, a personal healthcare advocate who can help employees and their families navigate physicians, prescriptions, appointments and benefits. The service is provided at no additional cost to employees and covered dependents.

Healthcare That Works Around Employees

Convenience is a central piece of the new partnership. Employees and eligible dependents can walk into a PartneredWell center and receive priority access or reserve a time in advance through the PartneredWell app using Hold My Spot.

The app also allows members to schedule care, track visits and access test results.

Participation is optional, and employees can continue seeing their existing physicians. PartneredWell also states that identifiable employee health information is not shared with GMSD.

For GMSD, the expanded benefit is another way to support employees beyond the classroom and workplace.

“Our goal is to remove some of the barriers that can make healthcare difficult to access,” Stratton said. “If an employee can find care closer to home, walk in after work or take a child to a clinic on the weekend, that's a meaningful benefit for our families.”

The PartneredWell shared network includes more than 80 health centers across five states, offering urgent and primary care, chronic condition support and other healthcare services.

GMSD employees can learn more about eligibility, services, locations and how to access care on the GMSD PartneredWell Clinic webpage.
