GMSD Parents & Alumni: Step Up to the Plate for Our Seniors

Do you have a cool job? Know someone who does? Own a business, work in healthcare, marketing, communications, retail, finance, technology, education, or just about any field imaginable?

If so, Houston High School needs you.

As part of our upcoming Mustang Career Summit and Job Shadowing Day, we are inviting parents and community members to open their doors and host a senior for a one-day job shadow experience. It is a small time commitment with a big impact.

Last year, this experience was one of the most talked-about moments of the school year. Many seniors described job shadowing as one of their favorite experiences and shared that it helped clarify career interests, build confidence, and make the future feel more real.

This year, we want to make it even bigger. We are especially seeking hosts in:

 

• healthcare and medical fields
• marketing, public relations, and communications
• business, finance, and entrepreneurship
• retail and hospitality
• creative industries and media
• technology and engineering
• skilled trades and service industries

If you think your job is “nothing special,” think again. To a teenager, almost every workplace is fascinating.

One Day. Flexible Schedule. Huge Impact.

Job Shadowing Day will take place on March 25. Students will spend the school day with their host learning about the workplace, observing daily responsibilities, and gaining insight into career pathways.

The schedule is flexible. Half-day and modified schedules are welcome. We work around your availability.
