HHS Mustangs Bring Spirit and Dance Moves to Farmington Falcons

Students at Farmington Elementary School got a special surprise this week when the Houston High School pom team stopped by to lead PE classes in games, dance routines, and plenty of Mustang spirit.

The visit was full of laughter and fun as the dancers taught the younger students a high energy dance routine.  This visit is directly aligned with Goal Two of the GMSD strategic plan as a part of the ongoing effort to connect students across campuses. We want each student to see what it means to be a part of not just their school community, but GMSD overall.

“These kinds of experiences help younger students see all that Houston High has to offer and create excitement about their future as Mustangs,” said Coordinated School Health Supervisor Andy Martin. “This is the second time we’ve done something like this, with high school students also visiting schools to share about more unique sports like water polo.” It’s not just athletics though as members of SGA at Houston have also visited elementary campuses to bring the Mustang spirit during homecoming week and read to students as well.

Farmington students loved learning a short dance routine from the high schoolers, while the pom team enjoyed sharing their passion and giving back. Senior Isabella Cheshier said the experience was especially rewarding.

“I love getting to work with kids and see how excited they are,” Cheshier said. “They aren’t scared or nervous to try new things.”

The event really gave some of our youngest GMSD students a glimpse of life as a Mustang, and it continued to foster the connection and community across our campuses. We can’t wait to see what surprise visit comes next, whether it’s another PE class or a reading session, it is sure to be something special.
