It's School Board Appreciation Week in GMSD!
GMSD is celebrating School Board Appreciation Week (January 26 - February 1, 2025) to honor local board members for their dedication to student achievement and leadership in the Germantown community.
From January 26 to February 1, 2025, Germantown Municipal School District (GMSD) joins school districts across Tennessee in recognizing School Board Appreciation Week. This year’s theme, “Leading with Vision, Serving with Purpose,” highlights the essential role school board members play in shaping the future of public education.
Superintendent Jason Manuel emphasized the board’s dedication to student success, stating, “It takes strong leaders to build a strong community, and these men and women devote countless hours to making sure our schools are helping every child learn at a higher level. The school board’s main goal is to support student achievement.”
GMSD’s Board of Education serves as a governing body devoted to:
- Establishing a vision for the district’s future
- Making student achievement the top priority
- Measuring progress to ensure goals are met
- Fostering a safe and supportive school culture
- Building partnerships within the community
- Continuously improving policies and practices to enhance education
While this week provides an opportunity to formally recognize the board’s contributions, their efforts positively impact GMSD students and staff throughout the year.
