Two of Germantown’s favorite family traditions are joining forces this fall for one big day of fun. The Germantown Education Foundation’s Run for Education is back on Saturday, November 8, and this year, it’s merging with StangFest at Houston High School.

“This year is especially exciting because your race registration gets you into StangFest for free,” organizers shared. “It’s an incredible value for families, plus all proceeds go right back to the classrooms.”

The event features both a competitive mile run and a Color Run, where participants dash through clouds of color around the Houston High campus. “The mile run is for those looking to race,” they explained. “But the Color Run is all about having fun, running, laughing, and getting a little messy in the process.”

Funds raised through the event support teacher grants and mini-grants, directly impacting classrooms across Germantown Municipal School District. “More than ever, the Foundation is focused on increasing what they can give back to teachers,” organizers said. “Ten dollars from every registration goes straight to a teacher or school, and the rest funds the Germantown Education Foundation’s grants.”

And when the running wraps up, the fun continues with StangFest, a carnival-style event run by Houston High’s student clubs. Families can expect food, inflatables, and games, with everything from friendly competitions to student-led activities.

“It’s a time-honored tradition,” one organizer said. “The Run for Education has been around since the beginning of the district, and now bringing it to Houston High with the ‘Future Mustangs’ theme makes it even more special.”

Families are encouraged to register soon to snag the official Run for Education T-shirt, a local collectible for many GMSD fans. The T-shirt deadline is October 25 at midnight, and registration is available at germantoneducationfoundation.org.
