Students Blast Off on Immersive Field Trips at GMSD Summer Success Camps
Students at GMSD’s Summer Success Camps took an unforgettable journey through geography and space last week, thanks to immersive Earth and Sky Dome experiences from Mobile Ed Productions.
June 2025--Last week, Germantown students at Summer Success Camps went on an unforgettable journey—without ever leaving campus.
Thanks to an engaging field trip experience provided by Mobile Ed Productions, students at Forest Hill Elementary and Houston Middle School were transported into immersive, dome-shaped learning spaces that brought the wonders of the world—and beyond—to life.
At Forest Hill, students stepped inside the Earth Dome, a giant inflatable globe where they toured continents, explored geography, and discovered natural wonders. “They talked to us about the continents and showed us a tour of the world,” said Hayden Martin, a rising fifth grader. His biggest surprise? “The heat and dryness of the Sahara Desert,” he said. Will he be making travel plans? “No!” he laughed. “But it was cool to feel like we could walk around inside of the scene.”
Meanwhile, Houston Middle campers launched into outer space inside the Sky Dome—a portable planetarium that began the journey at the GPS coordinates of the school before zooming out to explore the entire solar system.
“We chose to bring this field trip to our students to align with this year’s camp theme: Camp Wonder—Exploring the World Around and All Its Wonders,” said Megan Gaschler, Supervisor of Summer Success Camps and one of the program’s lead designers. “The domes gave students a chance to experience geography and space in a truly memorable, hands-on way.”
