Girls Varsity Lacrosse has a stunning comeback win over ECS

In one of the most thrilling matchups of the season, the HHS varsity girls lacrosse team came back from a six-goal deficit to defeat the ECS Eagles 16-15. Each one of the girls played an incredible game to pull together and get this victory.

At the end of the first quarter, ECS took a strong lead being up 7-1, and the Mustangs refused to let this stop them. By halftime, they had fought their way back into the game, narrowing the gap 11-8. The momentum continued to shift in the third quarter, and with seconds left on the clock, Houston tied it up at 14-14!

In the final quarter, the Mustangs took their first lead of the game, outscoring ECS 2-1 and sealing the comeback victory. Hannah Braithwait delivered the game-winning goal, while goalie Charlotte Baskette stood tall in the net, making 6 critical saves in the fourth quarter alone.

Annie James led the charge with an all-around dominant performance, tallying 5 goals, 2 assists, and 11 draw wins. Cece Tashie added 5 goals and 3 assists, fueling the offensive surge. Mary Noble Frankland and Molly Green each scored two goals as well.

Coach Jeff Ross said, “This is probably the most exciting game I have ever been a part of in 18 years of coaching!” We are so proud of this team for fighting back to rep the H and get this win! Their teamwork and determination was on full display, and you can next see their incredible resilience when they take on the Collierville Dragons away this Thursday, April 10 at 5:30pm. This is arguably the biggest game of the season as it will determine the West division seeding of the playoffs. Come cheer on our Mustangs in this huge rivalry game!
