Houston Middle’s Roper Oswald Takes the Stage From Interlochen to Playhouse on the Square

This summer, Oswald received a musical theatre scholarship to attend Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, where he participated in the Intermediate Musical Theatre Production program and performed in Pippin. The six-week program brings together young performers in grades 6-8 for intensive training in acting, singing and dance before culminating in a fully staged production with professional-level technical and design support.

And he isn't slowing down.

Oswald has now been cast as Edmund Pevensie in Playhouse on the Square's professional production of Narnia, based on C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The production runs Nov. 6-Dec. 20 at The Circuit Playhouse.

The role marks another step in Oswald's growing relationship with Memphis' professional theater community. In 2025, he served as the standby for Young Calogero in Playhouse on the Square's production of A Bronx Tale: The Musical.

From a summer spent developing his craft alongside young artists from across the country to a professional production right here in Memphis, Oswald is already finding plenty of opportunities to take center stage.
