Championship Appearance Highlights Successful Season for Riverdale Baseball

Riverdale baseball continued to build momentum this season, highlighted by a strong showing from all four grade levels and a memorable championship run by the seventh grade Raiders!

The seventh grade team, led by coach Chris Hebert, put together an outstanding 12-3-1 season in the Middle School Coaches League Upper West Division. Fourteen players made up the roster, with 13 returning from last year’s sixth grade team. Their experience and chemistry paid off as the Raiders finished second in their division and advanced all the way to the championship game.

Riverdale defeated Arlington 8-2 in the first round of the playoffs and followed with an 8-3 win over Collierville to earn a spot in the title game at USA Stadium. Although the Raiders fell 7-2 in the championship, the opportunity to compete on such a big stage was a memorable experience for players, coaches and families.

“Wrapping the season in the championship game at USA Stadium was an incredible experience,” the sponsors shared. “These kids worked hard to get there and share something special.”

The sixth grade team, coached by Phillip Knight, finished 8-5 after showing significant improvement from a challenging fifth grade season. The growth was a testament to the dedication of both players and coaches.

The eighth grade team, led by John Paul Kavin, battled through a competitive schedule and closed out their middle school careers with resilience and determination.

The continued growth of the program has been fueled by a strong coaching staff and the support of teacher sponsor Laura Greenlee.

“We are so excited for the future of this program and believe this is the first of many great things for these kids,” parents shared.

From early development to championship appearances, Riverdale baseball is building something special, and the future looks bright for the Raiders.
