Germantown Municipal School District is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting any personal information you share with us. You can visit our website without revealing personal information, however, in some cases GMSD may ask for personal information in order to provide the services you request. We do not collect any personal information unless you voluntarily provide it by sending us an email, opening a Let’s Talk dialogue, participating in a survey, or completing an online form. Such information will be used by GMSD only to conduct official school business and will not be disseminated by GMSD to any unaffiliated third party unless required to do so by a court order, subpoena, Tennessee Open Records Laws, or state or federal law, rule, policy, or regulation. 

Personal Information 

Personal Information refers to information that allows us to identify you, including, but not limited to, name, address, zip/postal codes, telephone numbers, email addresses, images/video/live streaming, organization name (if applicable), etc. By using the Website, you consent to the terms of use within this Privacy Policy. The Policy is subject to change at any time, and those changes will be reflected on this page. 

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser that allows the website to “remember” your preferences (such as calendar settings and site bookmarks) on the site from visit to visit or to maintain your “logged in” status when visiting protected areas. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Web browsers have settings allowing you to reject cookies, selectively accept cookies, or delete cookies previously accepted. Please be aware that rejecting or deleting cookies from the GMSD website may make certain functions unavailable to you.

GMSD uses website statistics packages such as Google Analytics to analyze trends in how our website is accessed and utilized. GMSD may use this information to identify high-use or low-use areas of the site, pinpoint problem areas of the site, analyze broad demographic trends in our visitors, and make decisions about how to make our site easier to navigate.

GMSD’s website may contain links to other, outside websites. Please be aware that GMSD is not responsible for any content posted to other sites or their privacy policies. We attempt to limit outside websites and resources to the Tennessee Department of Education, Center for Disease Control, and other government run or educational resource websites; however, these sites are not always the only resources used and shared. We encourage users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each outside website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to the information collected on the GMSD website. 

Security 

The GMSD website takes every precaution to protect our visitors’ personal information. Whenever users submit personal information (such as contact information or credit card information) via online forms, registration, or online purchases, upon submission that information is encrypted via the highest level of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) available. Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Under no circumstance are credit card numbers permanently stored on our website servers. 

Non-Secure Communications

Discussion boards, public comments, alumni registrations, live streamed public comment, and other public communications that are not in a password protected area may be viewable by the general public. Please be aware of this when posting personal information in these areas.
