A staggering 24 students from HHS were selected for the All-State Choir

This past Saturday, Houston High School hosted the WTVMEA All-State
Auditions. Students from across the state were singing their hearts out to take the top spots in this year's elite All-State Choir.

Congratulations to the 18 outstanding GMSD musicians who were selected for the TN State Honor Choir. Comparatively, HHS had the most students selected for the choir in our region. Including alternates, HHS placed 24 students in the choir. Attached is a picture with the list of the students, which choir they're in, and their chair number.

Dr. Billy Rayburn, the vocal music instructor extraordinaire at Houston High School--elated to have hosted--was also quick to share a few thank yous, "Thank you to Mr. Cherry and Houston High School for
allowing us to hold this event. Thank you to all of the A Building
teachers for allowing us to literally invade their space by holding the
actual auditions in their classrooms. Thank you to Mr. Matt Taylor and
the Houston Band for allowing us to use their facility to meet with the
over 40 high school choral teachers from West Tennessee. Finally, thank
you to Mrs. Christie for moving rehearsal from the auditorium to a later
time. We could not have been able to host this event without the
sacrifice from each of you!"
